In 1983 Ralph Mouw retired from teaching at Northwestern College after 36 years of service. In this blog I will share some of the comments from letters Ralph received from students who had taken classes from him or knew him during that time.
My first comments will come from a letter from Doug Van Berkum who attended Northwestern from 1958 – 1962. Doug went to Northwestern to become a teacher. However, he was going to major in history. After taking a required math class, he changed his major to math because of Ralph’s influence.
Doug says, “I shall always appreciate your organization, preparation, sense of humor, compassion, and overall interest in your students. Thanks again for being one of my teachers and for displaying God’s love through your teaching.”
